The Department of Hydrogeology and Environmental Geology of the Geological Survey of Estonia organized on 12 March 2020 training for the staff members of the Estonian Environmental Board. The aim of the training was to learn to know the hydrogeological conditions in Estonia and parameters for characterizing groundwater movement.

Fundamentals of hydrogeology and groundwater flow in rocks were reviewed during the long and comprehensive training day. The difference between aquifers and groundwater bodies was discussed. Moreover, practical advice was and simple tools were given for assessing the rate of groundwater movement, calculating the extent of impact of used wells, and for planning the frequency of groundwater monitoring and components to be determined.
The parties agreed to continue co-operation in the form of such training events also in the future.
