The director of the Geological Survey of Estonia from 27 January on is Sirli Sipp Kulli. The Minister of Economic Affairs and Infrastructure, Taavi Aas remarked that EGT has undergone a rapid development during the two years since its foundation. „Investigation and mapping of our underground has been started, a new drill core depository has been built, and lively research is ongoing in co-operation with universities,” he added.

„I am happy and grateful that in the leadership of EGT I shall have the opportunity to apply the experience of co-operation gathered during the last three years with the geological surveys of Finland, France, Sweden and Greece. Also, I shall have the chance to contribute to very good contacts with different European universities and professional associations within geology,” stated Sipp Kulli. “My first focus will be the co-operation with Estonian scientists, agencies related to geology and industries. I believe that the state has to possess information determined with modern methods: where are the various mineral resources located, and what is their composition and volume. It is the same as every proper farmer has to know how many sacks of grain he has in the storehouse in the autumn,” described Sipp Kulli.

Sirli Sipp Kull is a graduated engineer in chemical technology and Master of Science from the Tallinn University of Technology. She has earlier worked as a researcher at the Tallinn University of Technology, on development projects at Viru Keemia Grupp, as the leader of the Estonian representation of Intertek Caleb-Brett and in a cell therapy cluster. She was the chief executive of BiotaTec LLC, which operates on developing biological valorisation technologies of mineral resources, mining waste and electronical waste. In addition, Sirli is the chairwoman of the councils of Technical Centre of Estonian Roads Ltd and AS Metrosert.
